 Match Report
Blackfyne V Pelton
A late start this morning followed
by a tight first half in which Pelton went ahead against the run of
play with a well taken strike.
A inspirational half time team talk
during which Ian got at least one if the players names right seemed
to do the trick.
15 minutes into the second half and
Jordan was played in by Stonesy for an equaliser.. The game now
changed and Jordan and Macca got involved in a goalmouth scramble
which saw the ball break for Stonesy who finished from close range.
3-1 to Blackfyne swiftly followed
with a long range shot from Stonesy finishing the scoring for the
day.
Pelton had a man sent off for what
was later reported to myself to be improper use, "of the B word."We
have no independent confirmation of this but our source is
impeccable.
This game brought to an end our home
campaign for the season and there has been a vast improvement in
displays as the season has gone on with a 7th place finish
guaranteed and a possibility of 6th if we can win our final game of
the season, the much postponed game against Rutherford.
Man of the Match
Ollie
Catchgate V Blackfyne
An evening kick off for the short trip to Catchgate. A bright
sunny evening where we wisely chose to kick with the wind and the
sun in the first half.
After several near misses Connor opened the scoring with a right
foot finish across the box into the bottom right corner.
Catchgate then took advantage of a misplaced back pass to round
the keeper and level things up.
In a startling display of gamesmanship Mr. Stones then broke the
rule we have been following all season, (Nee Blammers), to blast one
into the bottom right of the net.
More controversy was to follow. Jordan latched onto a Callum
through ball for a simple finish and then Stonsey finished after a
fumble by the keeper. He completed his hat trick with a tidy finish
following good work on the right from Macca and Jordan.
Mr. Stones' fourth and our sixth was the one that all of the
controversy raged over. Was that really a LEFT foot finish past the
keeper? Didn't fall over either.
There was still time for Connor to end a trademark run with a tap
in goal to make it seven.
Just a quick word about the ref. His no nonsense approach left
everyone in no doubt who was in charge. Encouraging the players
after good play and strong decisions suffering no back chat.
Especially from the linesman who came up with the rather feeble
excuse for waving the flag that, "the sun was in my eyes and I was
using it to shield them."
We have agreed not to name Mr. Carlin this time to protect his
modesty but let this be a warning to all of you.
Man of the Match:
Stonesy
Blackfyne v Gateshead
Sapipa
A really good game today with lots
of incident and some good quality play from both teams. We'll open
by sending best wishes to the Gateshead goalie who was unfortunately
injured in a 50-50 challenge with Connor, it was great credit to
both players that they challenged for the ball and the injury was a
shame.
After trailing 1-0 to a tidy finish
Ollie skilfully turned in the box to finish with his right foot from
the left hand corner of the six yard box. The cross from Jordan
having evaded the visitors defence.
We then gained the lead when Stonesy
finished from 18 yards into the bottom right hand corner. It was
quickly 3-1 with Ollie adding to his tally.
The game was far from over though
and a penalty was conceded when Jack was adjudged to have brought
down a Gateshead forward. The ref made the correct decision that he
was not the last man and allowed him to stay on the pitch much to
the relief of his dad who was already counting the pennies for the
fine.
There was no stopping the penalty
but our lead was soon restored when a defence splitting through ball
from Connor played in Stonesy for a calm finish.
Gateshead powered back to 4-3 before
Connor burst through the middle seemed to have lost control but then
tackled the ball into the net. To make it 5-3.
Jack was awarded man of the match
for some solid keeping in an excellent all round team performance
with all squad members playing a full part.
Final Score
5-3
Man of the Match

Blackfyne v Chopwell
The return fixture against a
Chopwell side who have struggled a bit this season, but have an
enthusiastic coach and parents which will hopefully see their second
season prove to be a big improvement.
Adam opened the scoring after Macca
had headed towards goal, his vain attempt at claiming it being
laughed off on the touchline. This was shortly followed by Connor
making it 2 finishing at the second attempt.
Connor thought he had made it 3 but
the keeper saved well only to see Adam to knock in the rebound for
his second of the game.
Not to be denied though Connor got
through for a neat finish after being 1 on 1 with the keeper.
This brought a blustery first half to a halt.
The second half continued as the
first had finished with Stonesy supplying No5 with a crisp right
foot finish into the bottom left hand corner.
Connor was then brought down in the
box and Macca miss hit his penalty only for it to sneak in under the
keeper. The drama however was only beginning as the ref ordered him
to re-take it after encroachment from a Blackfyne team mate. Having
fooled the keeper the first time he decided to do exactly the same
the second time. Poor Phil on the touchline was convinced that Sky+
had been brought to life.
Jordan got his first with a strong
finish from his make shift right wing position before Chopwell got a
deserved consolation goal.
Still more to come with Stonsey
cutting the ball back for Callum to make it 8 - 1. To round up the
scoring Jordan got his 2nd in a man of the match performance, the
ball breaking to him after a strong probing run from Chrissie.
So a good strong performance that
leaves the team in good heart to play a strong Gateshead Sapipa team
in a game one or two of the lads have said they were looking forward
to.
Consett Vipers v
Blackfyne
A disappointing performance with
very little endeavour or application shown to the cause. It was said
that it was athletic but the comment from onlookers that it was
closer to arthritic was nearer the case.
Anyway that's enough about the
linesman.
The lads ran and battled but it
wasn't enough against a Consett side that won 3-0. With a little
more luck in front of goal the result would have been a lot closer.
Ollie put in a man of the match performance despite picking up an
injury.
Final Score
Consett Vipers 3 Blackfyne 0
Man of the match.
Ollie
Chopwell v Blackfyne
The performance of the season so
far, where despite early pressure, the consistency of the day shone
through. There were a few narrow squeaks and one or two points where
we thought the defences would break down but the final whistle
confirmed it. Ian had got through a full match without getting any
names wrong.
Down to business. Despite an early
disaster of having a brake light out, we found the ground no
problem. Due to this surprise improvement in navigation it was quite
a wait until kick off.
Chopwell lined up with ten men and
were up against it from the start. Despite hanging on stubbornly
their defence finally crumbled in the 19th minute when Ollie played
a clever through ball to Jordan who slipped it through the keepers
legs for the opener.
Less than a minute later and Jordan
got his second provided by a good cross from Stonsie. The lads were
now attacking at will and a sharp passing move allowed Connor to
play in Stonsie who finished with a right foot shot into the bottom
left corner.
There was still time for one more
before half time when Stonsies' shot was well saved by the keeper
but was bundled over the line by Jordan for a first half hat-trick.
All credit to Chopwell who despite
being four goals down at half time kept their heads up and continued
to play football. The second half was still young when Macca slid in
to finish through the legs of the on rushing keeper.
Chopwell then crossed into the box
where the number 8 found himself with the space to pull back a well
deserved goal. Connor restored the five goal advantage by going on a
mazy run down the left ending with a near post finish with his right
foot.
Anything Connor can do Macca was
going to have a go at and a similar left sided run saw Macca
finishing with aplomb for his second of the afternoon.
His hat trick was not long in coming
a strong central dribble followed by a shot which the keeper saved
but Macca followed up to finish.
Number nine was provided by Stonsie
following a good run by Connor, a smart right foot shot into the
bottom right corner
Connor got another to make it ten
with more maze than Hampton Court now in evidence. There was still
time for Macca to cross for Stonsie to complete his treble.
Callum drew the keeper to play in
Macca for his fourth in a Man of the Match performance. Connor was
credited with a third goal to claim his hat trick our fourth one of
the day.
Well done lads for an outstanding
performance and congratulations to Chopwell for keeping going to the
end. If anyone can provide me with the details for Connor's third
please do so as when he claims his cash from his dad he'll need the
evidence.

Man of the Match
Macca
Ryton v Blackfyne
9-2 08
A battling performance by Blackfyne
wasn't enough to gain the points against a Ryton team sitting
comfortably second in the league.
On a bright morning we had arrived
at the ground with no unexpected diversions, despite a few puzzled
looks from drivers of our fleet of cars.
An early penalty gave us a chance to
take the lead but although well struck the ball snuck past the post
from Stonesies' spot kick.
A searching through ball from Macca
put Jordan through for our first goal with a clever finish round the
keeper. This lead however was short-lived as Ryton came back with
some intense pressure and two goals before half time.
A third goal duly followed before
Jordan beat the off-side trap to slot the ball in to half the
defecit. Despite pushing forward we just ran out of time to secure
what would have been a well deserved draw in a thoroughly
entertaining game.
The back four put in a particularly
tough shift with all of them earning their places with solid
tackling and some timely clearances. Steven in particular
starting to show good consistency in his form.
More displays like this should see
us climbing the table as we have a few games in hand on some of the
catchable teams above us.
Special mentions go this week to
Rytons' very nice chips. Mr Monaghan was in danger of wasting away
until he caught sight of the clubhouse.

Some chips yesterday.

Blaydon v Blackfyne 6-12-08
The first game of the new year and a bright sunny morning to
enjoy. The last time we had been to Blaydon it had been wetter at
the pitches than in the swimming baths whose car park borders the
fields.
Down to business. Blackfyne took a good early lead when what was
described in the crowd as," an intricate passing manoeuvre," between
Conner and Macca fed in Jordan for a confident finish.
This was soon followed by Stonesy getting free on the left
hand side of the box composing himself for a great right footed
finish into the top corner opposite. His calm celebration of running
fifty yards arms aloft then sliding the next ten on his knees
bringing a satisfied response from the management of, " get on with
it."
Blackfyne were dominating by now and a long ball from Macca left
Jordan one on one with the opposition keeper. A calm right footed
finish into the bottom left hand corner marked a brace for our hard
working front runner.
There was still time for one more before the break when Macca
played in Ollie for a precise finish again into the bottom left.
After half time Blaydon gritted their teeth and came back into
it. Our defence had been rock solid in the first half with some
notable displays in the back four, especially once they had taken
their girly gloves off. (I'm looking at you Mr Monaghan)
Under quite a bit of pressure Blaydon got three quick goals to
leave the match nicely poised. With eight minutes left however the
ball broke for Jordan in a goalmouth scramble and he knocked it in
to claim his hat trick.
Conner picked up the man of the match award soldiering on despite
blisters from a new pair of boots. The whole team played their part
with a determined display, Steven and Chris looking solid at the
back well supported by Monna and Callum. Adam put in a hard working
stint in midfield and Ryan got his foot in to help cement the
result.
Gateshead Sapipa up next where a victory would put us above them
in the league and see us reaching the heady heights of seventh.
A Parents View
Playing a team in great form, Sundays
match against Clara Vale began well, with an own goal courtesy of
some excellent chasing down from our striker - Jordan, but then
ran fairly true to current form.
Clara Vale put in some great strikes,
some went in the back of the net and some screamed wide or over.
It was all our defence could do to try to keep them at bay. From
the sidelines, however, you always felt that if we could get the
ball over their giant of a Centre-Back we had a chance down the
middle.
It was a game performance from the
lads playing a team with a great deal of unity, that will surely
go on to win this league at a canter? There were some fine
individual performances to talk of though, with Stephen giving an
excellent display at the back and Daniel in the middle trying to
chase down everything. Even Jack (the mud monster) managed to pull
off a couple of saves that kept the score line within reason. It
might also be fair to say that one or two of the lads weren't at
their best today. Better to come I expect?
Blackfyne will win more games than we
lose in this league this season, the togetherness is definitely
coming and there will be more highs than lows to come.

Well we really put a show on today
we are improving every week.
the passing was crisp,
the marking was spot on we were really getting in their faces and
causing them problems all over the pitch.
The tackling was sharp and precise,
the finishing was superb.
Really lads we looked like a team today, a really good team, and I
am so proud of the way you all looked out for each other today
and worked for each other well done!
